My Weekend Recap

June 10, 2013

We started off Friday by heading to Indianapolis for First Friday Food Truck Fest.  We double dated with our friends The Keedys. I’ll be doing another post about that hopefully tomorrow! I just took way too many pictures to add them all to this post {which is already going to be picture heavy} and I want to give a good review about our experience. Here is a sneak peek:

Saturday morning started with a great surprise! We were sitting on the couch and heard a knock at the door. Our amazon order was delivered! We had just placed the order June 6th and the estimated arrival wasn’t until at least Wednesday. Fast shipping is just one reason why I love Amazon! Anyway, Chris and I had sold a bunch of books to Amazon and had a gift card to use. Here was our box of goodies:

A waffle iron– I really thought this would be useless to register for so I didn’t. Then I kicked myself. A blender– We have a lovely hand-me down blender from my parents. Its a 70’s colored green and at this point works like crap probably because the blades are dull. I’ve really wanted to start trying green shakes (fruit with some spinach) because I think they would be great to have for breakfast at work and I could use the nutrition. I’m looking forward to trying this one, a few of these, and this one! Chris got himself a new book, The Bridge of Sighs. Then I purchased a set of four Copco tumblers. Super excited about these. They are apart of my plan to attempt to drink more water. They each are 24 oz.. If I refill this 3 times a day I will reach my goal. Have to start somewhere right?

Not pictured above was the new hummingbird feeder because Chris was so excited about it that he put it up nearly right after he got it out of the box.

We love it because it is much prettier than the average bright red, plastic feeder. You can find it here.

For breakfast we tried a from scratch pancake recipe I had found on Pinterest and had been wanting to try. I will share that recipe another time.

We then spent Saturday afternoon cleaning out my brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s boat and taking it out on the lake for the first time this summer. It was a beautiful way to spend the afternoon and evening, however it could have been just a tad bit warmer and the water a little less cold (a lot to ask for with all this rain we have gotten).

A plug for my brother-in-law. We got these when we purchased our house but just found them. Be Smart, Call Bart!

I asked for a picture and this is what he gave me. So this is what the rest of the world is going to see! ha!

We took the opportunity to try out our new waffle maker. It wasn’t a bad first attempt. all we had was pancake mix that Chris followed the directions to make into a waffle mix. The waffles were just too soft and didn’t have a crispy edge like I would have liked. We will keep working on it!

For the afternoon we choose to spend some more time out on the lake again. It was a little warmer than Saturday so that was nice. I also took the opportunity to break out the new blender and try my first green smoothie.  It had blueberry, strawberry, mango, banana, almond milk, spinach, honey, and greek yogurt. It tasted mainly of yogurt which I’m not a big fan of so I’ll adjust my proportions next time. A Facebook friend also suggested adding cinnamon and it did help the taste. I’ll definitely add it to my next recipe!

Hope you have a great week!

Boating Saturday sounds amaaazing! I wish I got to get some lake time this weekend! I’m envious!

Your waffles look fabulous too, even though you didn’t think they were perfect! All in all, a great weekend!

    Thanks for linking up, Whitney!
